The city park of Rybnitsa was founded in 1967. To this day, the park remains an important symbol of the city, and its most recognizable site – the fountain – completely changed its appearance after a major reconstruction in 2019.
A memorial sign “History, frozen in stone” was unveiled in the park on November 21, 1998 for the 370th anniversary of Rybnitsa. The authors of the monument were A.M. Pokusinsky and I. P. Moseychuk.
The stone, which later became a monument, was brought from the Moldovan town of Rezina, located opposite Rybnitsa on the other bank of the Dniester. Initially, the stone weighed 15 tons, while 5 tons were ground off in the process.
The memorial sign has the form of an open book, which symbolizes history. The pen and inkwell, representing knowledge and life, mean that the chronicle of the city continues.
