Grave of the pilot S.I. Kharkhalup, Konstantinovka village
Senior Lieutenant Semyon Ivanovich Kharkhalup in the early days of the Great Patriotic War had 52 air battles, destroying three enemy aircraft. In one of the battles he rammed down a German bomber aircraft. On the morning of June 30, 1941, Semyon Ivanovich died in an unequal battle with enemy fighters. His plane crashed on the outskirts of his native village in front of the villagers watching the battle, among whom were the parents of the pilot. After the war, the remains of S.I. Kharkhalup were reburied in the center of Konstantinovka. On his grave a monument was installed in the form of the tail of the MiG-15 with an inscription “Those who lost their lives in the sky over the Motherland become the sky above it”. Subsequently, a small memorial obelisk was
installed at the site of the pilot’s death.
