Monument to the Defenders of the Fatherland

The monument is erected in memory of the Pridnestrovians who died defending the republic in 1992, and the Afghan soldiers who died in the performance of their international duty. The monument was opened on August 1, 2017, on the Day of Remembrance and Mourning for the dead defenders of Pridnestrovian. In the armed conflict with Moldova in 1992, 31 residents of Rybnitsa died while defending the republic. From 1979 to 1989, 54 natives of Pridnestrovian died a heroic death in the Afghan war. Among them were 9 residents of Rybnitsa. Funds for the construction of the monument were collected by city institutions and city residents. The eight-meter stele faced with granite bears the sign of the Battle Brotherhood, a laurel branch and the inscription “Eternal Glory”. There are 40 memorial plates with the names of the fallen heroes installed along the perimeter of the monument.
