Monument to the Victims of the Holocaust in Bendery
On June 23, 2002, a monument to the Holocaust Victims was erected on the Dniester riverfront. This terrible tragedy of the Jewish people during the World War II vastly involved citizens of Bender. Over 2000 Jews were executed here.
This monument, created with the support of the Jewish community of Bender, is a fragment of the Wall of tears made of black stone with red blotches that look like blood drops; the star of David is carved in the stone, with the numbers “1941” above it.
The authors of the monument are the architect A. Narolsky and the artist M. Solovey.
