Sanatorium “Dniester” is the oldest health resort in the republic, known far beyond the borders of Pridnestrovie. Due to its favorable geographical location, beautiful mountain landscape and mild climate, the sanatorium regularly receives thousands of people who want to improve their health.

Kamenka gained fame as the first grape-medicinal resort in the south-west of the Russian Empire back in the 1870s. At the invitation of P.Kh. Wittgenstein Prince Fyodor Lvovich, Austrian builders erected in Kamensky Park a two-story building of a kurhaus (resort house), which housed a buffet with a restaurant, a reading room, a billiard room, a dance hall and living quarters. Small resort dachas were erected nearby. The revival of the Kamenskaya health resort began in the 1930s. In 1935, the grand opening of the first sanatorium in the Moldavian Autonomous SSR took place here. In 1976, a new sanatorium complex was put into operation on the territory of the resort.

It consists of two dormitories for 450 people, a medical department, a swimming pool and medical baths, a dining room that can simultaneously accommodate up to six hundred guests, a cinema and concert hall, a library and other premises. The sanatorium is surrounded by a large park area on all sides. Today the sanatorium “Dnestr” is one of the most modern, technically equipped health resorts in the republic, where modern methods of treatment and diagnostics are practiced. The sanatorium has its own drinking pump room (a special pavilion, equipped over a well of mineral water) with cold and warm mineral medicinal water “Dnestryanka”.
