Scythian barrows near Butor village are the largest archaeological sites, explored comprehensively from 1962 to 1978. Scythian burial sites near the village were first discovered in 1969 and became the first find of this kind to the north of Tiraspol. Since then, there has been constant attention to the archaeological findings obtained from the study of barrows near Butor.

The study of the Butor barrows, which are considered to be the largest Scythian burial sites in Pridnestrovie, made an invaluable contribution to the development of archaeological science both in the USSR and in contemporary Pridnestrovie.
